About James McBride.


James McBride was born on 1957. He was raised in Brooklyn. His mother had raised twelve kids, the oldest out of eight. His bestseller The Color Of Water. He tells us about his whole childhood and how it was spent with his Jewish mother. James had a passion for music. Later in his career, he became a writer and got his degree at Columbia University. Along his career, he wrote for  Boston Globe, People magazine, and The Washington Post. He realizes it's not what he wants to do. He decides to quit as a writer and dedicated himself to music. He loved what he was doing. He composed songs Anita Baker, Grover Washington Jr., Purafe, and Gary Burton. He won many awards through out the 1990's.
